Wales & Wye Laning

Wales & Wye Laning Group (WWL) was renamed and re-launched in January 2013, from the previously successful name of West Wales Laning Group. WWL was originally founded in 2008, by laning trip organiser and group leader, John.

WWL are a small responsible, active, and primarily none extreme user group based across Mid & West Wales and the Wye Valley, with a mix of members and TreadLightly volunteers. Our aim is to promote safe and sensible driving in the countryside and put something back when we can, via our volunteer efforts.

WWL's aim

Is to cater for all Land Rover or other 4x4 owners and newcomers to the green laning scene, primarily in Monmouthshire, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion & Powys, and arrange friendly group outings throughout various other areas such as South Wales or the South West. The main focus will be slow and steady green laning "get together" days for other owners, using the diminishing public off road byways in the west & mid wales regions. As of 2012 WWL has expanded it's area further east to the borders of England & Wales and operating throughout the mid/southern & western areas of Wales, aswell as into Gloucestershire, Herefordshire & Shropshire.

Make Outdoors accessible

WWL is not looking to become a large group or business, and don't charge per trip for driving your own vehicles along public rights of way, purely more of a contact mailing list for those, who perhaps don't have funds or time to commit to the full club social scene or commercial outings, but who do want to get out laning safely, sensibly and more importantly correctly and legally with others. We do however now charge a small 5 yr membership fee of £10 to join, this covers website admin and GLASS affiliation. Please refer to the Conduct page for rules and guidelines. We currently have a limit of under 50 active members throughout Wales and the Wye Valley and sometimes have a small waiting list to join.

laning trips

If you have a 4x4 and want to go laning in our neck of the woods, then please get in touch. We will be aiming to organise at least one group green laning outing per month in 2016 so why not come along in your own, or even come along as a passenger (if someone can fit you in) if it is something you have always wanted to try.

Do not cater for Motocross bikes, Quads or other ATV's as there were already many similar forums and clubs that cater for these disciplines within Wales already, You may wish to contact the TRF for your motorcycle related enquiries.

If you are specifically looking for Shropshire Laning group or South Wales laning group, then please see the pages above, we are all 3 separately operated reputable clubs who carry out responsible laning trips organised by GLASS Area Reps.
